Tilt steering identify?

I have a auto tilt column that came with a pile of parts. I dont know if its van or stock. I have a pic, but I cant figure how to post.
Could someone post it for me? My blazer is a stick so I want to know what this is so I can sale or trade it.

#1 It looks like a van tilt. The lower shaft is longer than pickup column and the firewall boot is different.

#2 What did this come out of? It looks like a van column, but the slot for the N/S switch looks like it is in the right place for a truck. the switch is alot closer to the upper end on a van.

It has the original style levers and the right connector for the wiring and the neutral safety switch is in the right position for our trucks. The only thing that I see that looks like a vans column is the floor seal. Because the seal looks just like mine did and it was from a van, But the neutral safety switch is too low for a van it would be on the outside of the firewall. My switch was located closer to the notches that the tab under the dash fits into, that is the reason that I could not use the switch in that position, because with it located there it would smash it when I placed the column in position.

That is a van tilt. The lower column shaft is too long to be truck. The truck columns are only an 1 1/2 long. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I thought this was a van tilt. I have a factory tilt on my '71 so I knew the shaft is too long. The thing that was throwing me off is the n/s switch location.

It is made like a Van tilt, but it also could have come in a motor home. My guess is that it is an early 70's Van because it has the slot in the right place and it has the right connector as the trucks.

I have a question. Can I pull out the shaft when taking the wheel/ nut, rag-joint out of the van column, and insert the shaft from my 72 GMC C-1500, being it is the correct length, or do I have to only swap out the bottom section of the steering column shaft by breaking off the two plastic pieces that hold the lower section on? Confused yet, sorry if I have...I will get better pics.

If I understand your question, you would like to use a non-tilt shaft in a tilt steering column. The shafts are very different as the tilt shaft has a cut out ring welded to the end of the shaft, which is part of the tilt.

To make the tilt column fit, you will want to collapse the shaft extension a couple of inches. The plastic can be drilled out easily.
I clean and paint both parts of the extension so that when you put them together and set the length, the paint keeps the two parts tight.

71 LiL: I didn't mean to steal your thread. I just am confused to what I can use and not use with my Van Tilt w/ cruise, my three speed column, and my 72 floor shift. I have all the components and want to get an automatic tilt with cruise out of it.

71 LIL: Are you gonna use that lower section of the van tilt column, the one I circled and said I needed? If you want to get rid of it let me know, I need that part....
