"67 disc brakes and drop spindles

i have McGaughtry drop spindles. have 6 lug rotors from like a 94 2500 van. they fit perfect. problem is the calipers donot line up in any way. should i hunt down some 1500 calipers from 1.25" rotors? thanks

What year calipers did you use to convert your 67 to disk brakes? Have you mic'd the rotors you have? I believe there a 2 size rotors, 1" (SD) and 1.25" (HD), both of them use the same caliper though. What year are the drop spindles for?

Re: "67 disc brakes and drop spindles

the drop spindles are for a "67 c10. the rotors and calipers are off like a "94 2500 van. the rotors are 1.25 thick and like 11 5/8" diameter. the spindles might require light duty calipers, not sure.

Re: "67 disc brakes and drop spindles

I've read elsewhere on here in the suspension forum that all the "conversion" spindles use the 1.25" HD rotors and bearings. I don't know anything about using a '94 Van for a parts truck, but I am running drop spindles, HD rotors and Std. calipers from a 71 C10 and everything bolted up like factory. I didn't have to shim or space anything. Oreilly's had rebuilt calipers with core charge for $10 or something, probably worth checking out, just take your calipers up there as cores.

You have to figure out what you are dealing with.
What part number spindle?
What application is the spindle for?
60-62
63-70
71-72
73-87.
EVERYTHING must match the spindle.
Bearings, rotors, calipers,... must all match the spindle.

Skip the freakin van rotors.
Do it right the first time!

But we need more info to be helpful.

Re: "67 disc brakes and drop spindles

the spindles are for what mcghatry calls 63 to 70, requiring h.d. rotors and calipers. i read another thread on here or another forum that gave a description of the parts to use, and it described using 2500 g.m. rotors for 6 lug disc brake rotors. rotors fit fine, caliper is the problem.

The van rotor is the problem.
The would work it you were installing 88-98 light duty 2500 spindles but you are not.

Your spindles require a 71-87 hd 5-lug rotor.
Or,... Any of the aftermarket 6-lug rotors.
