CPP Big Brake Rotor Machining for Balance?

Here is a picture of one of my new Rotors I got from CPP. It has about a six inch long machined area in just one of the rotors. I contacted them and they said it is NOT a defect and was done for balancing purposes. The other rotor has no maching at all. Seems odd to me that one was that far off and the other was good.

Common practice. Same as balancing tires on wheels. Not always the tire out of balance. We just struggled with some FOOSE wheels last week. You would think they would balance the wheel before shipping it out.
