72 c-30 manual to power steering

Hey guys! I have a 1972 chevy c-30 and want to convert the manual steering to power steering. I've found a 1979 c-20 p/s gear and pump. Will I need to change the pitman arm? If I need to change it what arm should I use ? Tks

From what I remember, the pitman arm is different on a manual vs pwr steer C10 so it would suggest they're different.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Usually. I am only familiar with the C10 but there is a Pitman arm that is power steering only. The receiving splines are larger. You might have to change out your rag joint as well. In the C10 the input splines on the PS gear box are larger in diameter and the old rag joint will not fit.

Re: 72 c-30 manual to power steering

Thanks to everyone who responded to my power steering question. I did have to find a different pit-man arm and a new rag-joint. the splines on a 1972 steering gear are more course than the fine course on a 1979. I almost have everything together, still waiting on my mounting bracket for the pump .
