Rear mount Gas tank question...

I just finished mounting an LMC gas tank in my 64. However, I had a question on the vents on the tank. Besides the filler and sending unit, do I need to run any vents or returns? I would apprecaite any input or pics anyone can supply.

I'm thinking about the same tank, how low does it hang down? How was the install?

If your not running a vented cap you`ll need to put a pigtail vent in the tank.. there are two trains of thought on a return line, stock mechanical pump you don`t need a return line,( although GM used a return lines on the `69 camaros with stock pumps ) electric pump you should run a return line, 3/8 or larger to the carb and 5/16 back to the tank and return needs to run almost to the bottom of the tank to eliminate vapors, this prevents the electric pump from deadheading the fuel pressure and creating excessive heat and causing the pump to shut down, (thermal overload protection ).

Install wasn't too bad, but you sorta have to figure it out yourself. No instructtions, but could have been worse. The tank hangs about 9 inches below the bottom of the frame.

I am running a manual pump, so I won't need a return. However, what we are confussed about (and feeling stupid) is what lines hook to what ports on the tank. two of the ports we beleive are for returns/vents because they don't go down. However, the one nipple off the tank bends down a little, but it doesnt look like it goes all the way to the bottom. Sorry for the basic questions, I am just tryin to weed through this. make sure you post some pictures (if it's not too much trouble). I need to decide on a tank soon...

My tank came with a vent fitting on the top of the tank. It also came with a check valve so that gas won't run out of the vent in case you put the shiny side down.

Here is a pic. I picked up the screen filter at Advance. I mounted it up between the inner fender and the bed side.
