Aftermarket Steering Wheel Size? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I recently decided to replace the 16" factory steering wheel on my '77 C10 with something smaller. I managed to get my hands on a Grant Challenger (13.5") which has it's advantages but it is just too small for my taste. On top of it blocking the 'sweet spot' of the speedometer I think it just plain looks funny. No tilt column for me by the way.

I had a '93 2500 which had the 15" factory wheel. I thought that was an OK size if still not a touch on the big side.

I already have the Grant adapter in place so I would like to stick with them. I have looked at the 1180 (which LMC sells at a steep markup) which is 14 3/4" as well as some of their 14" wheels.

Anyone running a 14-15" in their truck care to post of a picture? For you non-stock wheel people...what size did you settle on?

Subscribed. I to am looking for a new wheel. I hate to loose the look of my stock '74 wheel but I am to fat for it and have no tilt.

I think in these trucks, the 15.5" works better for gauge visibility, and just generally fits the size of the interior. But it does come down to personal preference. Some people like a little more room from the seat to the bottom of the steering wheel, if they don't have a tilt wheel.

I think both work well, but would have to lean towards the larger one if I had to choose.

the previous owner of my truck put a tilt colum in with this wheel, its a little smaller but i plan on going back to the stock one

i bought one of the smaller ones and found it incredibly uncomfortable for me a big guy i went for a 15 inch

Where on Earth did you find a 15" Lecarra? I was looking at those but every place that sells them (including eBay) seem to have only the 14" versions.

Not entirely sure what size mine is, but it definitely feels too small. Its a GT Grant as well so I'm sub'd for pics!

I like the smaller 14"-14.5" wheels. Gives more room between the wheel and my gut. With power steering, I don't see any reason for a larger wheel.

I don't know if you have tilt or not but do you find those sizes block the gauges at all? I have to nudge forward or duck down to see how fast I'm going with the 13.5" Grant.

I have a tilt column, but I don't actually worry about any gauge other than the fuel and temp gauges.

I haven't really noticed that mine blocks the gauges, but at the same time there isn't anything I can do about it anyway haha. Mine isn't tilt, and I don't need the room to get in and out, it just feels too small for some reason I couldn't tell you exactly why though.

Does anyone know if the 15" Grant Nostalgia wheels are dished out too much for our trucks (again...us deprived non-tilt people)?

That is what is in my 74.....mine is not a cord wrapped Z28 wheel but the original factory sport wheel from my 1971 Monte Carlo (yes it was the optional sport wheel for the Monte).

Automatic floor shift lokar shifter minted to the trans. But if it was a manual the clutch would be easy as free pie.
