Engine removal question..........

I'm about ready to pull the old engine out of my 81 shorty and I have a question........ would this work?

My C-10 is gutted inside and has not box on it. Could a guy use a floor jack under the engine, lift it off the motor mounts and then roll the chassis forward and then lower it down to remove it?

I was laying in bed last night when I was thinking about it and it seems like it could work but just not sure.

Any thoughts???

Re: Engine removal question..........

Only safe way is to use an engine hoist.

Re: Engine removal question..........

I totally agree and I'm going to use a cherry picker.......... I was just laying there wondering if it would be possible or if anybody has tried this method of hillbilly engine removal.

Re: Engine removal question..........

There is one other option. Tear it apart and remove in pieces!! A bare block can be removed carefully with extra hands!!

How would you roll the chassis out from under it when the engine is being supported from the bottom?

Your support system would be in the way.
