Hello from NE Ga.

Hi All,
My name is Steve. I recently acquired a 1972 custom 10. A bit of a Bitter / Sweet deal. My best Fried of more than 20 years, Roy Easter purchased this truck back in 2004 or so. He had the truck stripped down and repainted and then proceeded to put it on the back burner while he got back into his motorcycle days.

Well Roy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April, three weeks later He passed away. I still have an issues with this daily.I don't believe there will ever be another friendship in my life that will last as long as ours did.

His Widow asked if I was interested in the old truck. Well I couldn't pass this up. Maybe I am trying to hold on to the past, but if I can finish what he started it is like our final project together.

Anyway the truck is what I would say 80% complete, With a lot of little tasks to complete.

I have only had the Old girl for 2 weeks now and have driven it almost everyday. OMG it is AWESOME. I am in love with the ride.

I will be putting together a list of things to finish this project, hoping that you guys can help me out in trying to get this complete. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking for handouts, more so guidance from those who have done this before.

I will try to post current pics.

Thanks to all for this site.

Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to the board. Nice looking truck and it looks like the hard part is done. Depends on what you want the final look to be but I think I would sandblast the wheels and caps and repaint them. The grille install is pretty straight forward, but pretty expensive if you don't have a good one. What kind of shape is the interior in? Almost any part is available for these trucks but shop around, prices vary from place to place.

Re: Hello from NE Ga.

Thanks to all,
Not much accomplished today, other than yard work and some pictures. I did get the front turn signal I ordered installed. Also the new gas tank grommet installed. I found it in some boxes of stuff, inside the truck. Also my new Co-pilot.

Re: Hello from NE Ga.

i am sorry to hear about your friend. i admire your dedication to his truck in his memory. perhaps you can air brush his name somewhere in his memory or something. thats a pretty awesome copilot! mine requires food and more attention than the truck. sometimes i think he would rather drive since he loves my seat so much more

Hi Steve,

Welcome from Colorado. I can sympathize with losing a friend to pancreatic cancer....I lost my dad to it in 2001....think about him every day....

Looks like you got a great truck!

Hi Steve,
Welcome from Tucker GA just up the road. You guys have one of the best barbeque places in the state - Fresh Air.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I lost my father in 2005 to pancreatic cancer. My truck reminds me of him and the mechanical things he taught me. Now I am trying to pass that on to my son.

Looks like a nice truck!

Thanks to all, who replied. I do have a new question, The rear view mirrors I am seeing look to bolt to the cab roof. I have no holes here, and there is the residue from a mirror mount on the windshield. ????????

The 72's mount to the windshield for sure. The last year they mounted to the roof was 1971. Good luck with your new build.
