Parts truck
Have a 66 C10 250 3 on the tree. Want to do a t5 swap, found an s10 not to far away. Has anyone put s10 suspension/steering under their truck?

Re: Parts truck
I don't see why you would want to, that would be going a step or two backwards. The front crossmember & suspension from a 73-87 full size is almost a direct bolt on.

Re: Parts truck
Only reason it crossed my mind about the suspension was that I would like to swap the power steering from the s10 and get rid of the old "Armstrong" steering

Re: Parts truck
Depending on what year the S10 is, the brake are a joke and are not good enough for a 2800 lbs car let alone a 4000 lbs truck. You can use the suspension off a 73 and up C10, getting powersteering and disc brakes. S10 suspension is way to light for the bigger trucks.

66herbie, have you seen this? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367260
Lots of good info. We used the parts from an '81. Got power front brakes and steering

Quote:
S10 trucks weighed 32-3300 lbs empty (nothing in the bed or the cab) and s10 blazers, with the same suspension, were 3900-4100. most of the weight in a c10 is in the drivetrain and frame, and most of the weight in an s10 is in crash protection and sound deadening. I havent scaled mine yet but I would bet a tenner it weighs less than the s10.
