Have a gas leak from the fuel fitler on my carb. Is there a gasket in there that might need replacing? Im a little "carb tarded" and still trying to learn about these things. I put a red arrow showing where its leaking from in the top photo.

Pull out the filter hsng. There should be a flat teflon washer that fits into a recessed edge of the hsng. Sometimes when you overtighten the hsng, it will crack it. They also just get brittle with age.

Please be careful when removing that inlet nut. You need two wrenches - one to hold the smaller threaded fitting and one to turn the inlet nut. There is a special wrench designed for this purpose - think box wrench with a slot in the end to allow you to fit it over the hard fuel line. You can do this with regular end wrenches but it is easy to break something.
If you are unfamiliar with this kind of work it should be cheap to have a mechanic replace the washer and filter for you. If you strip the threads in that nut it likely will never seal right again - you can get a repair nut and cobble it up, but you may end up replacing the carburetor.
I am attaching a pic of the inlet nut wrench.
The wrench is Thexton GM inlet nut wrench. I suppose a crowfoot wrench might work, but it is pretty tight working in that area. I found an ad for one on the net:

Awesome! Thanks guys. Im almost positive my grandfather has one of those wrenches in his garage. Should i gonahead and replace the filter while i have it apart?

The Teflon™ washer is not very wide, and is also very thin: about 1/16" or so. Here's a pic:

The filtre housing (the large fitting you remove from the carburetor in order to get to the fuel filtre) has a small lip where the Teflon™ washer is held on so that it will be properly located during installation.

I just smelled gas on my C20 BB

. I bought a package of teflon washers off Ebay and will post when I get them. I did wrench that big inlet nut with my special tool and it seems to have stopped leaking. This happened a few times before so I think that washer is shot.

Well i finally got back from vacation and got this taken care of. Ended up taking all damn day to find the washers locally. Found them @ napa. Had to use 2 of them to keep it from leaking.
