Quick exhuast question
When coupling the pipe to stock rams horns and using the beveled donut gaskets, do you use a short thin tube piece inside the donut to keep it centered? I took apart my 72k20 and it had these in there but I don't see why they would be needed, it would just create a little more restriction I'd think? Seems like the 3 stud mount and donut itself would center everything just fine.

They have also seemed unnecessary to me. I've always left them out when replacing donuts and it looked like the donuts were lined up pretty well. I kind of assumed that the factory manufacturing process required them but since we can take our time we don't.
I've also seen posts showing quite a restriction with them in some cases and then a significant performance increase with them removed.

The amount of 'restriction' would be immeasurable. With everything moving around, getting hot/cold. I use the sleeves myself, keeps 'em centered

The sleeve keeps the hot gases off the packing. If driven hard the packing will burn out in short time without it.

I'm with wrenchbender.I like them.The donuts last a lot longer with them in.I do need to find a source since mine needs one.I guess I can get a pre-flared exhuast fitting and cut it.....
