Is there a specific 67 model year specific tailgate I will need to hunt down?

On chevy tailgates there is a small difference from early to late. I really don't know for sure about gmc tailgates. Rick knows, he'll jump in soon. He knows about tailgate-gate

Here is a thread with pics on chevy tailgates.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=494219

Is there any chance this is the original seat?

Re: New guy here. First truck

Another question. Would it be easier to replace the whole rear cab support with one from GMC Pauls or just replace the driver side outer support? As you can see the drivers side is almost all but gone, but the passenger side seems to be in ok shape?

I was going to install my new body mounts today until I caught that. My excitement of buying the truck must have lead me to overlook this

Trying to get my ducks in a row before I take it in to have the rockers replaced!! The body lines seem to be ok for the condition is in?

Thank you for all your help

Have you had it running? I had a few vehicles with that 6, its not speedy but it will tear a house down if you can get the traction. Once its rolling it will cruise down the road just fine.Good luck with it and keep the pictures coming of the progress.

Re: New guy here. First truck

if you can weld and aren't scared the weld a triangle brace across the door and cut out the rust and weld in the new pieces. read up on it, study by watching either utube videos or ebfabman video like I did. have a plan and it will work out, go in like gang busters and you'll have a mess. with patience it is easily doable though! Us rust belters fix stuff that would make the southern and westerners run in the other direction!

Re: New guy here. First truck

Cool project and welcome! your the guy that asked about those tabco rockers. I think you would be better off just replacing that one rear cab support piece. If you and/or your friend decide to tear into the rust and fix it your self make sure you have a lot of patience and take your time, it can be very frustrating removing the old, prepping the surfaces and aligning everything. I dont think your seat coverings a original but the seat itself looks original, if it is a '67 seat the seat back should tilt forward. the seat brackets are also different for every 2 years on these trucks. Good luck!!

Re: New guy here. First truck

One more question for you guys. I am about to order the rear outer cab support from GMCPauls. Should I go ahead and order the outer floor extension to replace the edge of the floor on the driver side, or is there a better/easier way to go with that?

Re: New guy here. First truck

Just pulled the bed this weekend. Getting ready to start the cab work. Should I replace the cab support first or the floor extension/ rockers? Some pics of the bed and what the previous owner did to it.

Re: New guy here. First truck

Whoo hooo! Finally got the bed off today. Feel like I made some progress. Haven't got much done, as I am continually buying parts and tools I need. I have a line on a sandblaster so I should be able to get the back of the frame cleaned up.

Tomorrow I plan on replacing the body mounts with new ones so everything sits nice when I go to cut the rocker panels out
