Pump prime
Hey guys I have a question about priming oil pump. So I had my 350 completely rebuilt with a lot of upgrades. The machine shop used a melling high volume pump and I was told too use 20 50 racing oil in it. I'm priming the pump my first time ever. There is a lot more resistance than I thought there would be, and it doesn't feel as smooth as I thought it would. My gauge shows high oil pressure, not pegged out but it is 3/4 of the way up. This is a 72 350 and before it was rebuilt oil pressure was about 1/4 up the gauge. So if you have primed a pump before please tell me if this sounds normal thanks.

Re: Pump prime
Cold, heavy oil and an HV pump will have the drill trying to twist your wrists while you prime.
