drip rail...Yes or no

Got a 78 in the body shop right now. The drip rails have been removed for the paint job. My question is should I leave them off or replace them. What are some problems with not having the drip rails?

No drip rail = waterfall when you open the door during and after rainfall. As a 73 owner, 73's never had drip rails, you just wait a minute before exiting..no biggy.

No drip rails make it looks better IMO.

I would ditch them. I never had an issue with getting a little wet with them shaved on the 83 because of how much better they looked.

I have a friend who took his off when he painted his truck. It looks great with them removed.

I like mine however, because I use it as somewhat of a fingerhold when I hop up into my lifted truck. And yes, the do function well as drip rails.

If for some reason I didn't have them anymore, I don't think I'd miss them much excpet like i said for something to grab onto.

My opinion for a 2wd - ditch 'em.

Is it your truck? If not, you may want to ask the owner.

Mine's black with the silver middle. I'm going to keep them, cause all the stock chrome I can get with the black paint is gonna stay on. It makes the black look soooooo much better.

I like mine. If you're keeping the trim on your truck like I am after painting eventually keep them if you are taking the trim off then take them off.

I plan on removing mine when I get to the body work. They just look better off, but if I were going to drive it all the time I would probibly leave them so I didnt get wet all the time.
