I have just recently joined this forum after buying a really straight 1969 C10.My intention is to make it into a daily driver...just a good truck that I am not afraid to get dirty or work hard.I have found a really good '77 292 cheap and have a good 200-4r transmission already.I have a chance to buy a clifford intake with a 550CFM Holley 0-1849 for $300.Will this carb work on a 292?Anyone have experience with such a combo....any opinions are appreciated

I ran the R8007 /4160 Holley 390 CFM for years on an Offy intake with Clifford headers.
After a rebuild I'm running the 500 CFM Edelbrock performer 1404. [the Holley died atfer 25 years.] The 0-1849 is a 600 CFM, IIRC, designed for the small block v8s like the 350.
400 CFM is the ideal flow for a 3 liter engine. The 292 L6 is also called the 4.8 L in later years by G M. Clifford made good stuff.

Thanks for the reply...I am going to pass on this deal.I thought the carb was too big for my needs.

Check your engine before buying parts.I'm not sure but 77 seems about the time the 6 cyl went to an integrated head.At least on the 250,I'm unsure on the 292.They have the intake cast as a part of the head.If so you would need an adapter to use a different carb.

The intregal head was not used on 292 engines.

Right. So buy the deal, toss out the Holley, and you're still $100 bucks ahead!
LOL/JK Actually I think the Offy intake is better for a real truck application.
