So this gasket is stupid. I ordered a WBL653 (pcnc371305). From precision for my 66. Problem is it looks too big?
Everything I find says part number and part are correct....am I supposed to cut this? It woulndt make sense. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: stupid windshield gasket
My dad owns an auto glass shop, and we have noticed that Precision's quality has been going downhill on their older car/truck weatherstripping. They also aren't making all of their own seals like they used to, so no internal quality control in the manufacturing process anymore. It's getting harder and harder to find quality reproduction parts!

Re: stupid windshield gasket
No matter what the package says, perhaps you were sent you a gasket for a 60-63 which I assume would be longer.

Re: stupid windshield gasket
i used LMC's windshield gasket on my 63 and it went right on no problems.. i noticed the gasket was really good quality compared to the precision's i tryed them first and they sent the wrong gasket twice.. so i returned it and went to LMC and they got it right the first time..

Re: stupid windshield gasket
Thanks guys, I already have a return in progress. I'm gonna try lmc, just waiting to see if my local glass guy can source his own gasket and save me the hassle.

Re: stupid windshield gasket
Yeah, quality anymore is zero. I bought some rear barn door weather strips for my '65 Panel from Steele. I go to check the fit and found the right side one was done "backwards". It was like a mirror image to how the corners should have been. Called the company and they grabbed one off the shelf and verified they were done incorrectly. Had to wait three weeks for them to mold new ones correctly and send them to me.

Re: stupid windshield gasket
whatever you do, DO NOT order from AutoPartsWarehouse.
They have a good price on Precision gaskets, but make teh return a pain. 1. I hate calling India, the gentleman was very nice but has no idea what any of these parts are, let alone subtleties as to why they would be wrong. He issued the return without a hassle tho. 2. 3 pages of "stipulations" to returns; you must have all packaging, reciept COPY, properly marked slips in black pen etc... I just want to send the damn thing back, not do all your recieving work for you. I've worked in shipping and receiving, and NEVER expected customers to jump through hoops on a return that is the companies fault. I found a local glass guy from a smaller town just outside the city, its $~250 but thats labor for 2 guys, and a new gasket etc. At this point, if it goes in well and he can avoid mucking stuff up like I would (paint, the gasket, the glass itself)...then its worth it to me.
