shaved door kit,,, help

Ok so I bought a shaved door kit for my 82 Chevy custom deluxe 10, so I installed them right
So I close the door and press the button to open the door, but it did not work, so I checked
The door latch and I checked the one on my newer 2005 Chevy truck and I saw that my newer truck when I close it and pull the handle without pulling the door towards me it opens up
And my 82 I have to pull the handle and pull the door to open it so there is no way that the selenoid will open and push the door out,
Is there a solution for this?

Re: shaved door kit,,, help

Maybe it needs a stronger solenoid? or
lube the latch and hinges that might help a tiny bit

Mount a spring/pusher in the door jamb. I've used a brake spring instead of the little rubber piece on the bottom of the door or you can buy a nicer looking billet pusher

Re: shaved door kit,,, help

Unless you have something like a "Bearclaw" latch design, you have to use an item called a door popper, to kick the door out.
