Ready for install

I have been a member for a couple of years now and even purchased a '69 longbed from a member here while I was stationed in Afghanistan. (Actually bought it sight unseen).

Anyway, the purchase went smoothly and I love the truck.
I have been working on the engine and I know you guys like pics so I thought I would share the pics of the new engine.

I have a few pics to share, so I will post more in another post in this thread.

Enjoy!

Re: Ready for install

Also, I forgot to say it is a 396BB....

On the Dyno it measured 469HP and 455 ft/lb torque.

I will post more pics when I mate the engine and the truck....

I am glad the engine finally got finished.

The paint color is actually a recent GM "burnt orange metallic" similar to the Corvette and Pontiac G8 offerings.
I didn't want to go with a traditional Chevy orange and my engine bay is solid black so I was looking for a GM color that would compliment as well as stand out in the black environment.

Re: Ready for install

I used CGM Motorsports in Millerville, MD. The owner has a long history of building high quality race engines and a couple of the machinists in the shop are outstanding. My carb, Holley 750DP, was overhauled and custom built to my application by Baker Outlaw Fuels and the Dyno runs were completed in PA at Baker Outlaw Fuels as well.
I have video of the engine on the Dyno, but haven't figured out how to put them in this post yet, but am working on it.

I will be putting the engine in my truck in the next couple of weeks. (I hope)
Next project will be to have a custom exhaust installed.

The PO had headers and a crossover exiting in front of the rear wheels WITHOUT mufflers, just resonator tips. I am going to quiet it down a bunch and have the exhaust dump just in front of the rear axle like an old '67 GMC is used to own in Arizona.

PM me if you would like some more details.

Thank you! I was looking for a different color and like what I decided on. The original thought was a VHT bright green (just to be different), but my machine shop friends recommended I stay with a GM offering.
Glad I did!

Thank you! The truck is an older restoration that needs some redo, but right now it is a dark blue metallic. For my first truck build, I wanted to go with something different than what typically is done with colors and being that this will be a weekend warrior, wanted it to pop... I think the overall package will look great when it is all together.

I sincerely appreciate all the positive comments on this project. Due to my work schedule and multiple deployments, this project has been 2 years in the making and the pieces are finally coming together.

I will post more pics as this thing comes together.
