Can anyone identify this part??
We removed it from the truck, specifically the front driver's side corner of the intake manifold, over a year and a half ago and now have no idea what it was for. Any ideas??
  EDIT! This was not removed from front driver's side corner of intake. It appeared that way in a photo but upon closer examination, this is incorrect. We're back to square 1 on this one. I have no idea

It seems to have a bevel to the hole in the center which indicates it had a real purpose. The motor already had 2 lifting brackets besides this one so I doubt that's all it was used for but ya never know lol

I have a similar one at the left rear of my intake, but it has a square hole in it to run the kick down cable through.

Interesting....our truck is a 4 speed so no kick down cable here but we're getting warmer...

Might be to route a power brake or PCV hose through? It appears to have a hole for an accelerator spring.
That's my guess anyway. What does the winner get?

Bob, the accelerator spring part makes sense but I'm trying to determine what the large tapered hole is for. For the life of me I can't remember what it was used for and it looks kinda important and I'd like to reinstall it if I could

Did your truck have cruise control? Or, the factory cable to keep the engine from shifting to one side on acceleration, but i think that was on the passenger side...

I have a bracket on ebay from an Impala. You'll notice the hole is the same. It had the power brake hose going through it. See it here:

In the center of the first picture below, there's a bare metal part with a rubber grommet inside of the hole. This was said to be from a 72 with 10,000 miles. In the upper right corner of the second picture, from a 70 GMC, you can see a bare metal ring with a hose going through it. Could it be one of these ? . . . . |

Steve, it looks like your second pic is spot on as it came from a 70 GMC. Apparently it is for the brake booster hose.
Thanks everyone for another session of knowledge. I suppose I should blast and paint this part for when the booster gets reinstalled huh? Tony

Here's the entire picture . . . it was from an original, low mileage 4X4 Suburban. Maybe you can blast it and just spray clear coat on it, since it looks like it was bare metal when installed at the factory. When you put the black hose through, it will stand out as a rare part, most engines don't have !!! . . . . |

It is for the brake booster hose. It keeps it away from the throttle linkage, so it won't interfere with it.
