what have I done - electrical

1970 jimmy with a wiring mess, chopped out all the stuff that didnt look factory (wire nuts and crapbagger zipties and wierd lookin single colored wires)and hooked her back up tonight expecting greatness, turned the key and nothing, no juice at all -battery is a 2 week old autozone gold but I cant find my multimeter! I am color blind, but it looks like a light blue/ gray colored wire is dangling from the ignition switch and nothing is connected to that spot on the fuse block. I had a trailer brake and a couple of hitch harnesses that I took out, but dunno how that one was left hangin....please help me! I took some pictures but the f'n camera doesnt work on any of my computers, sorry guys and thanks for the help. Thanks.

Do you have a wiring diagram? I think the blue might be the neutral safety switch.

I wouldn't trust any colors at this age.

Go find that multimeter or get one for cheap and find your 12 V.

colors mean nothing to me, I can think of about 5 different colors that could be unfortunately. I have the wiring diagram, need to find that multimeter and start from the beginning I guess. You guys dont know of a thread anywhere that would be helpful when starting from scratch do ya? Thanks!

Sounds like it all needs to be ripped out and start fresh with a brand new reproduction harness from the firewall back and firewall forward before the thing burns to the ground. Personally that's the direction I would take.

me too firebird, but $500 is $500. I assume that the american autowire 510089 is the kit most people seem to prefer, does that work with stock electrical system though? I know this has HEI but I read some things about alternator compatibility?
