Rust in the tank!
Truck was bogging down so i checked the fuel filter in the carb and i seen little hard brown specks
 would it be better to drop the tank and clean it out or just get another tank?

depends on how good the tank is.. if its not too rusty outside you could have it boiled out at a radiator shop and its almost as good as new

from below mine seemed fine but I too kept finding rusty bits in the filter,
and a bad bog,cut off the hoses and this is how it came out.... found a hole up top and the sender was lol stoned? to death

You could splice another in-line filter in and see what happens. Then drop the tank if it still bogs down. My tank was a little dirty and another filter solved the issue.

New tank starts at $68 for a 16 gallon from rockauto.

from below the coating seemed all good but I knew it was going to be bad when i reached up and could only feel a "dirt bump" not seperate lines
bout 300 for new tank (11 inch),sender,straps

this was the best pic i got from the side
one tank spot (you can see) got me wondering but this trucks frame was/is very dirty
