Lifted truck height ?????

I'm planning on putting a lift kit in my 72 1/2 ton 4x4 and need a little help on deciding how much lift I can put in and still be able to get the truck into my garage. I,m going to use 33" tall tires and would like to know what the height of the truck will be ( from the ground to the top of the roof ) with a 2.5" lift and a 4" lift.
( Most likely a soft ride system from Skyjacker or Tuff-Country )

I would appreciate anyone that has either of these set-ups to measure the height of their trucks and let me know.

Thanks in advance !!!!!
Gary

depending on how "tight" of a fit you want, consider that depending on "how" the lift was done the height will vary.....if some one used original springs and just added blocks, its gonna be a little lower than the person that went with "new "re-arched springs" and blocks.....old springs sag a little,(well, sometimes alot),,,,,,jeff......

Stock height of a K10 is 72.5" with stock rubber on both fleetside and stepside trucks. I don't know what the height of your truck is now, but that 72.5" ground to top is broken up as follows for fleetside and stepside.

Fleetside
Ground to top of tailgate when folded down = 27 3/4"
Leaves 44 3/4" from the tailgate to the top of the cab.

Stepside
Ground to top of tailgate when folded down = 28"
Leaves 44.5" from the tailgate to the top of the cab.

SO....take either 44 3/4" or 44.5" (depending on whether you've got a stepside or fleetside bed, and measure the distance from the tailgate to the ground as the truck is now. That will give you the height of the truck with no lift, with the tires you have now. Add that up, and you'll have your current overall height.

Add in whatever height the 33's will give you and you'll have an overall height with your tires you want to use. Take that height, subtract it from the opening you have (minus whatever clearance you want) and that will give you how much you can go in lift.

Enough for today's math lesson Good luck.

This is true, so I guess I,m looking for someone that has installed a new lift ( with rear springs 52") either 2.5" or 4"
from either Skyjacker or Tuff country ( soft ride ). I know there will be other variables, tire mfg, settling of the springs ext. But it will give me a starting point. Thanks for your input Jeff.

New Hampshire, eh?

Good to see another Northeast member on the board; we're few and far between here!

I'm sure someone can help you out...check avatar pics and see who has a truck with some lift. I know Pont and Mudder67 both have lifted rigs, probably more than 4" and probably bigger than 33" rubber, but they may be able to help. PM'em....

At one time running 15 inch wheels, 4 inch suspension, some body lift, on 35's i could just barley get mine into a 7' high garage. Had maybe a half inch to spare. Running 16.5's now it won't clear. An easy way to tell how tall your truck will be is measuring the height now, adding the lift and then add half of the difference of the difference in tire size u will be going to.
Sounds stupid!
But if for instance you are going from a 33 to a 35 you would just add 1 inch.

I just woke up LOL.....

I could park my hood in the garage. I think 35's and 6 inch lift should be about borderline getting into a standard garage. My truck seems to be about 3 or 4 inches too tall. Even if it did fit, my 2wd would be outside so that's a no go for me.

Measuring the truck now and adding the lift wouldn't be very accurate due to the leafs that have been added to my current suspension, and there being some broken leafs in the rear (reason for the rear leafs being replaced when I do the lift )

I want to correct all the back yard suspension mods that I've done in the past, add some lift, and hopefully still be able to get it into the garage under my house. I may be able to correct the garage height issue next year ( looking at putting an addition on,
garage with an inlaw or should that be OUTLAW apartment above) but the addition insn't definite at this time.
With all the members on this board there must be a couple with a similar set-up to what I want to do.

Thanks Again.

Thanks!!!

I knew there had to be members with a similar set-up.

Now does someone have a 2.5" lift and 33s ???

I believe were few & far between due to the salt eating these beautiful old trucks away, and people giving up fitting with the rust. I guess the only way to beat it is to garage the truck for the winter. ( But I like driving it too much )

K20s with 4" Skyjacker softride spring all around and 35" BFG tires will go in a garage. All that hits is the radio antanae.

There is no way with a 6" and really no way with the one I used to have with 12" of lift...lol
