Question 79’ K-30 Which sheet metal & or parts might fit

I apologize for this is a somewhat general question, however I am looking for suggestions

I have located at a local salvage yard, but have not checked (inspected closely) them out yet. A 1983 GMC Jimmy and a 1984 Suburban. Which parts / sheet metal might I check to see if I can use on my pick up.

Thanks

I have some rust next to the F & R wheel cut outs. I was hoping to cut out some panels. Do know the range of years that I should shop for ?

Thanks.

Re: 79’ K-30 Which sheet metal & or parts might fit

I have been away from Chevy trucks for a while, it’s like re-learning a new language all over.

I started out driving, my first vehicle a 1952 ( ½ ton) 3-window in 1968, then moved on in 1971 to a 1949 long bed ¾ ton Chevy’s. Because of the price of gas ( $.65/Gal) moved on to the imports. In 1995 I bought a SLE GMC 1500, still have it w/102,000 mi on it.

Through these many years most of my family & friends have remained loyal & owned Chevy’s / GMC’s. As a fleet manager I purchased a good number of Chevy/GMC, both large and small for fleet use.

Now that I have an opportunity to restore this 79’ K-30 to say that I am excited is an understatement.

I am looking forward to learning much on/from this forum
