Just thought I'd share.

So I bought this truck last winter. It had a 4" Superlift with 315/75/16 and it also had a stinky under powered 6.2 Diesel. The first thing I did was removed the Superlift and installed new front leaf springs, and a new set of wheels. I wasn't sure what size of tire I could get under the truck after removing the lift so I just bought a cheep used set of 285/75/16 off of craigslst to get me by for awhile.
After getting the suspension set up to my liking it was time to do something about the under powered 6.2. Even though it did run pretty good other than smoking alot at cold start up I couldn't stand the smell and how doggy it was. So i yanked the 6.2 and droped in a very mild built 454. So far this truck is so much more fun to drive then before.

Do you see anything wrong in the lower pic ?

WOW! How come that happened to the hoist? Is it because you removed the engine and the tranny together? That scares me becasue I just borrowed my neighbor's engine hoist last night and was thinking of pulling my engine/tranny combo in the next couple days......... Any tips before I start?

Re: Just thought I'd share.

I've had them bend down at the very bottom... yikes!

Since then I just take out the rad support for easier removal!

Yes I pulled the engine along with the trany and T-case. I had to have the hoist extented out as far as it could go to be able to reach the engine.

Also I removed the front tires and had the front axle sitting on the shortest block I had. Other wise the hoist would never go high enough.

When the hoist started to bend I stoped lifting and had to brace up the engine&trany so it wouldn't bleed down over night and damage up my truck.

With my hoist extended out all the way it's wasn't rated high enough to lift that much. So the next day I bought a better HD hoist that could handle getting everything pulled at once.

You should be fine, 6.2s weigh around 700 to 800 an he had a transmission and transfercase bolted to the engine. I pulled a 454/400 out of my crew cab on the 1/2 ton setting on the lift just fine with my harbor freight shop Crain.

Re: Just thought I'd share.

Truck looks good btw, at times I wish I didn't get rid of the 454 for a 6.2 but I'm going cummins now so oh we'll.

Re: Just thought I'd share.

Nice looking truck, I would have kept the 6.2 and put a turbo on it, but then again I'm an oil burner fan.
That big block sure does look nice though.

Yeah If I knew it was going to do that I would of droped the t-case & tranny then pulled just the engine. Even though the cherry picker I ended up buying is a beast of it's own. I was able to drop in the 454 and the th400 at the sametime with the hoist extended all the way out.

Yeah I know I've been getting that alot lately. I looked into rebuilding the 6.2 and going with a turbo but the cost was more then I wanted to spend. Plus I've always been a BBC fan myself. BBC are so easy to get 500+ TQ &HP out of them. So far I'm loving my truck more then ever. Until I fill up at the pumps.
