How much lift to run 46s

i just looked at a truck its a crew cab 4x4 1974 he has a set of mickey thomson 46inch baja claws for sale that i can buy with it. so im wondering how much lift i would need to clear 46s? any thing will be helpful

Well my brother ran a 6" suspension lift with a 3" body lift and cleared 40x13.50x17's on a near stock offset 17x9" wheel... so Id guess 15-16" minimum depending on wheel/tire width/offset and intended use without cutting the body all up. I would say springs with that much arch (even 12-13" if combined with a body lift) arent going to ride the best. My suggestion would be build a good link/air bag setup for that kind of height, but it wouldnt be cheap/easy like huge leaf springs either...

Just my .02 from little experience with square bodies, Im sure someone else will chime in.

Well it that case I would just get the biggest leaf spring lift you can and cut the body til the tires fit.
