Sourcing a stall torque converter...

Anyone know a good place to buy a stall torque converter? I need a 2600-2800. Also, when I measured my fly wheel, from bolt hole to bolt hole(straight across) is 11". Is that what size I go by when I buy one. My 496 stroker transformation is well under way and this is one of the last things I need

Re: Sourcing a stall torque converter...

I loved the TCI converter I had behind the big-block in my old Chevelle. I live in Ar and they are made in MS so it is only a couple hunred miles so if I needed a change I could pull it and they could cut it open andtigthen or loosen depeneding on what you needed. But that was a race applacation. Anyway, the TCI stuff always worked good for me and they are willing to help you decide what is best for you and your truck depending on cam, compression, rear gear and total weight. Also don't forget to put a good cooler on the truck to help keep the trans happy. Jim

Uh... almost any aftermarket parts outlet? Jegs? Summit Racing? Even on ebay?

You will need the TC that fits your transmission.

Re: Sourcing a stall torque converter...

I called Hughes and they recommend this one for my specs. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUP-GM30/. Funny thing is they are in Arizona and I am in Arizona, but it was cheaper to buy from Summit.
