Axle Identification question

First off let me say this is not on a GM truck it is actually on one of my friends old fords.
We are trying to figure out what this axle is he has two identical trucks and doesn't know what the front axle is on either.
They are both 1973 ford f350's but from factory they were two wheel drive. They were bought by an independent company and converted two four wheel drive for use on gas wells.
Both trucks have divorced np205 transfer cases and a passenger side drop diff.
Doesn't look like any dana 60 ive seen so im not real sure what it is, i know the ford steering components sit behind the axle like they are on this axle but the GM axles have it up front.
Ill post the pictures i have in a little bit and im sorry the pictures i have suck next time im at his place ill get some better pictures.

Re: Axle Identification question

Ya, we need pictures. If it was converted to 4x4 it could have just about anything in the front.

Re: Axle Identification question

Sorry about the delay on pictures guys been really busy lately.
Here are the pictures i have not these are pretty crappy so i will try and get some better ones asap.

Also on the pictured axle just to the right of the diff looking at it looks to be the numbers 67680 and on the dash of this truck (still has the original cab although it is junk) is a sticker that says "When ordering service parts please refer to this number 933 . 531" not really sure if that has anything to do with this or not.

The diff cover doesnt resemble any of the ones posted but what threw me off to begin with is that both the diff cover can be unbolted as well as the back of the axle.

Re: Axle Identification question

Thats an interesting truck, would like to see more pics of the whole thing if you have any. Napco did mostly Chevys but I've heard they possibly did a few Fords, back then Howe Coleman were really big into doing Fords and Chevys in the bigger trucks. It should have a tag somewhere with the builders name on it.

Re: Axle Identification question

Napco did 1 ton conversions on 4wds. Not sure on Fords, but I know early GMs couldn't get a 1 ton, had to be thru these guys.

Axle looks like an Eaton

Well both trucks are pretty well torn apart one is a bare frame the other is still together but now has a single wheel bed on it and regular wheels on the dually axles. Its together like that just for now so that he can pull with it at the local fair.

Re: Axle Identification question

Okay so I got some more pictures.
Here is the truck itself.

It is a Napco conversion it has a tag on the inside of the door.

It doesn't have an np205 like i stated before.

Here is the front axle i didn't get any pictures of the knuckles or the numbers beside the front diff.

These pictures are of the other truck, the first picture were of the truck with no body this is of the truck that runs but they are identical to each other underneath.

Re: Axle Identification question

Think it's a Dana 20 and def Eaton front. Pretty weird, Ford having pass drop front end....

Re: Axle Identification question

The transfer case looks to be in the rockwell family, bigger than the 221 though.
