On the Road Again
After what turned into a 3 year project, my Truck is on the Road Again and returning to Daily Driver Duties!

I was wondering what happened to it. So, did you end up with a 3 inch front drop coil with a 1/2 coil cut? How did the alignment go? How does it ride? I was waiting to do mine until I heard the verdict on yours. Looks good sir!

3" Drop spring form CPP. I cut a 1/2 coil. Added short poly bumpstops in place of the stockers. It is almost touching them! The Front is bouncy. Rear is good with plenty of room.
At somepoint I will get Drop spindles and 2" springs for the front for sure. I did a tape shade tree alignment, its ok, but I'll get it into a shop soon.

I did the opposite of you. I have never driven my truck and have owned it for 2 years. We had a 71 gm sbc350 in it that we bought rebuilt but was missing carb and what not and ended up Selling the sbc and Buying a l6 250
 I am in love with the L6. But yours setup looks very good. We dont need not stinkin paint jobs. Keep up the great work!

Nice! Don't feel too bad about three years...it's been a little over 12 for me. I just drove mine for the first time since I parked it 12 years ago. I had more time than money, yada, yada. But it's driving now!
At the end of the month I will get it registered/insured again then it is off to the alignment shop. After that it's time to put some miles on this motor. Congrats on having your's rolling again! |

Got about 600 miles on it so far! Retightening bolts, and fine tuning it!
Having fun driving it! Everyone says it sounds great! Averaging about 14mpg, with mostly cruising at 60mph. It runs 170-180f cruising, will get up to 200 sitting or in slow traffic, fan then maintains it around 190f. At 60mph, I'm turning about 2000rpm. Engine stays at a steady 52psi. Cold engine runs 60-70psi. Hot engine at idle 30psi. Running on 87octane. Have yet to here any spark knock. Base timing set @11btdc. I have pulled some big hills, and accelerated without downshifting and left other cars. No pinging. The engine pulls great. Lots of power of idle. Pulls reall hard, great match to the munice. The cam sounds wicked for it's size, and is the best part I put in the engine. The rear suspension is great. Swapping the control arm mounts helps the truck hook real well on cheap tires even. I have just started to push a few corners and it's seems pretty good so far. The rear is light, of course, and with some of the wood gone it doesn't help. Posted via Mobile Device
