That 275-55-17 is about 29" tall. Combine that w/the 3.42's, larger frontal area of a truck vs a sports car (f-body or vette), increased weight, & it all adds up to the possibility of zero gains doing the swap. The cars would have approx 3" shorter OD tires which will definitely affect gear ratio choice.

Of course, rowing through the gears is way more fun vs an auto (until you're stuck in a traffic jam ). I just re-read your initial post & noticed it would be swapped w/a LS motor. Search for a 98-02 f-body trans.
