I6 230 truck & Nova II same?

I have a chance to pick up an I6 230 out of a 1965 Nova II. Are the truck & car engines the same?
Thanks Larry

They might be the same size but I am guessing the nova engine will be down on some HP and torque.

Check the oil pan. Sump could be on the wrong end for a swap. Might need to swap it.

Geezer you are right. It is backwards from the truck.
Thanks Larry

Also check for the presence of the boss for the clutch bellcrank ball stud

If you use the pan & pickup off the other engine there wont be a hole for the dipstick tube. Make sure the Nova engine is a 230. Most of those were 194 s.

Good call Wrenchbender, it is a 194. Contacted seller & informed him it would not have enough HP. Once again thanks for the well informed replies.

Re: I6 230 truck & Nova II same?

The sump on the engines are in different locations between the two configurations. The sump is in the middle on the Chevy II, and at the end (near trans) on a truck. The bolt patterns are the same on both oil pan models. It could be a 194 engine in the Chevy II, but that's a good thing, 194 have steel cranks, 230 is cast iron. "IF" the Chevy II engine comes with a bell housing, it won't work with the truck clutch linkage. The throw-out bearing arm is positioned at 9 o'clock (like most Chevys in the truck) BUT on Chevy II's it's at 7 o'clock. (It would be a good trading piece IF your into that type of thing)
