That's a great question for stock wheels and dog dishes. Body color? White? If gray, it should be argent silver. Rustolium silver is a very close match.

Re: Stock Grey color for steel rims ?

Not sure what the stock from factory color is. Or if there was only one. My 67 has black rims and the 68 has white.

Hubcaps are white with orange bowtie and ring around it. Caps probably came in the chevy teal type color also but that's just my guess. Hopefully somebody else here will know for sure.

I agree, '68 would be argent silver. The hubcap should be the exact same color, except for the black and red trim.

i thought argent was a rally-only color and that stock gray was a bit darker? Argent has a green tint with the silver.

Re: Stock Grey color for steel rims ?

I agree there is a specific color of silver that Chevy called argent silver, as shown above. However, argent is not a tone or designated shade of silver, its just the word silver in Spanish. Try Eastwood or some aftermarket retailer for the closest match if your looking for 100% resto. Asking someone for a color close to argent silver will probably be met with confusion of why your asking for the same thing in two different languages. Ask me how I know living in El Paso

Re: Stock Grey color for steel rims ?

I have a book that spells it all out, Ill have to dig it up

I know the back side of the 1968 standard 5 inch mirror, the rear license plate bucket, and the wheels on the C/10, I think the wheels on C/30 are black

I have a 1970 C/20 -- would wheels and caps powder coated argent silver work? My dad had the hub caps painted white with a Gold bowtie to match the gold truck. I was just going to do the blue bowtie -

Same truck... powder coated Argent front bumper and rear step bumper make sense?

Powder coating the wheels and rear bumper are a great way to go. I'd double think the front bumper. I think the pitting from rock chips would be more difficult to fix up than paint. A painted bumper can be sanded and reprinted in a few hours, can't do that with powder coat, JMHO.

The correct factory color for front bumper, wheels and hubcaps would be white for 1970 thru 1972 pickups, however, a powder coated argent silver rear step bumper would be a good choice.

Re: Stock Grey color for steel rims ?

Thanks. Perfect photo. I have the grille with the CHEVEROLET lettering in the middle, unfortunately too dented so I'll have the one shown soon. Other than that my truck is gold with the white bumper and wheels. My rear is a step bumper currently gray. I thought it just looked odd for front and rear bumpers to not match. It's stock to have to different color bumpers?

Re: Stock Grey color for steel rims ?

Rear aftermarket step bumpers, aka barden bumpers, were typically painted gray or argent silver when GM dealers installed them on their new trucks. Trucks are not cars, bumpers dont have to match
