Fan hitting shroud?

When my engine is warming up the fan is making light contact with the shoud. It is more pronounced when the wheels are cocked either way. After it gets to running temp. this goes away. Also- this was happening last winter/fall, and went away during the summer. Now it is back. What could cause this

It is a stock setup, btw.

You may want to check your motor mounts. This happen to me. One went bad allowing the motor to sag slightly in the engine cradle. It moved down just enough to allow the fan to touch the bottom of the fan shroud.

However if your fan is hitting the upperside of the fan shroud, your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks, Jason

Went out and checked- it is hitting the bottom. I still find it odd that it only does this when cold, though.

Any more input?

I couldn't really say why it would be an intermittent problem.

If you have trouble seeing if they are bad. Try the following...

Open your hood, get in the driver seat, start your engine, put your foot on the brake, put your truck in reverse, while firmly holding the brake quickly tap the throttle while watching thru the gap in your hood. If your mount is bad, you will notice the motor lifting within the engine compartment. (not very scientific, but thats how figured i was able to confirm bad motor mounts.) Don't get too carried away though, because you can cause more damage.

Let me know what you find out.
