Re: have you heard of this: Estate

I know in 2001 the Chevy Suburban Estate was just branding used in the UK. Maybe a Canadian Suburban?

Re: have you heard of this: Estate

Was there woodgrain on the sides of the Burb? That's usually what "Estate" means on a wagon. If it didn't have woodgrain, it likely used to.

Re: have you heard of this: Estate

Elsewhere in the world, "Estate" means Wagon -- for example, in Europe, Saab calls their cars Estate or Saloon vs. being called Wagon or Sedan in the U.S. I would guess those emblems are from a Suburban originally sold in Europe or Australia, or maybe Canada. After all, what is a Suburban but a colossal station wagon? Cool find!

Re: have you heard of this: Estate

I still think those emblems were there because it had woodgrain on the sides when it was new. Malibu Estate, Caprice Estate, and Celebrity Estate all come to mind, so it would not be a surprise if there was a Suburban Estate.

Re: have you heard of this: Estate

As has been said they are from the 70's. GM used to put wood grain (which was Vinyl Mac-Tac, not wood) between the upper and lower body side moulding on Burbs.

I also remember seeing some about 1973-1979 up pickups with the woodgrain between the upper and lower moulding on them back then.

In those years the Big 3 ( as they were called then, especially GM with
55/60 percent of total vehicle sales in North America ) owned the automobile industry and it seemed in those years they felt that if they put s**t on a stick it would sell, and they did sell everything they produced.

The fake wood was available on the Blazer (I assume the Jimmy too) in the 70's too, but there were no emblems. I had a '77 Blazer that originally had the fake woodgrain.

Re: have you heard of this: Estate

i think these came on suburbans that had the wood grain on the out side. because i went to the junk yard with fat hoe last weekend there was a burb that had wood grain on the outside and at one point had the estate emblem. but some one got to them.
