what to do in between jobs

after finishing up a job and waiting for the go ahead on my next one I decided to replace the wood floor in one of my 71's. I decided to make it out of pine as original and spray it black for now since I won't paint this pickup until next year. Since I started driving this thing again, and I am using it for work I ordered a mat to cover it from Summit. I also replaced all the bolts with a ribbed-style bolt kit from Classic Parts.

Re: what to do in between jobs

One of the little tricks that I've learned over the years when I make these floors is to mill notches in the front and back of the bottoms of the boards. This is especially true if its on a truck that resides in the outdoors. This way the water/snow drains better and you can blow out dirt and debris with compressed air better.

Re: what to do in between jobs

one cool thing I noticed when I was cleaning the factory tool storage box was the manufactures decal. Rockwell made alot of the equipment I use so I was surprised to find they made the tool storage box. Any body else find this?

that was my dad's blazer he bought new in '71. He totaled it a few weeks after he bought it when he rolled it a whole bunch of times off the side of a mountain. I would have to go find some more pics of it before and after and post them tomorrow.

Good job and good thinking on the drain tip. I will definitely incorporate that into my bed.

believe it or not he only ended up with cut up fingers on one hand. I think he was thrown out right away, I couldn't find the picture that showed how far down the mountain that thing actually rolled.
