Personally i think its all where you want to put. I tried to center the wheels in the fenders as much as possible, when it looked good to my eye, marked em and welded em on.

There are a coupl;e of web sites with kits but they are pretty tight lipped about their specific measurements (kit specific i guess). Most of the time the rear wheels are centered leaving the front just offset from stock. You will also need a 4x4 rear axle and billet wheel spacers for the front end otherwise the wheel will be to far inside due to frame width and design issues. Whom did you get the blueprints from or can you send me a copy? I'm doing the same project, 50 on a 88 lwb, 355sbc 700r4 etc for the wifey.

If possible center the front wheels as close as you can, the rear axle can be moved around alot easier allowing it to be centered after you mount the cab. Here is a pic of my '49 on an s-10.

Re: 53 swb s10 need help

I just mounted my cab 2 weeks ago. I would start by trying to eyeball the wheel in the front fender opening, and then go from there.

Do not weld anything until all the front sheetmetal is lined up. I had my cab, fenders and radiator support in place, but when I went to put the hood on, I needed to adjust the cab height (Lowered the front a little and raised up the rear) to get the hood gap right at the rear of the hood.

Ther are about twenty bolts that hold all the front sheet metal together. So, I again, would recommend assembling as much of the truck as possible before welding the mounts in place.

My cab mounts are made from 4"X4" sqaure tubing. The front mount is about one inch behind the oblong hole in the s10 frame rail just past the bend outward. See the end of my build thread (link below) for a few pictures.

Re: 53 swb s10 need help

Are you using the stock radiator and core support? Was suggested to use a late 60"s mustang on the s10 frame due to size. More options with them too I believe? Progress on your thread is getting me motivated to push forward on mine.Cheers-Nate
