Update on the Kevlar Brake Shoes.

The following pictures is a comparison between the new kevlar shoe and the one I just took off my burb that had 53,000 miles on it. A lot of those miles were tow miles up and down the mountains. This is the worse shoe that came off the burb. I think it faired pretty well.

68 Suburban,

thanks for the link...

they may not be cheap to start with but if they last longer and have less issues they would be worth it.........

Stoppin about teh same as a disc brake truck, and shoes lasting 50,000 miles, and it is still cheaper than discs...
I say it is a win/win/win situation.
I would imagine swappin shoes out is way easier than a dic brake conversion too.

Just curious...looks like a really good investment.

Are their Kevlar disc pads any good too?

Might be upgrding my C10 one of these days then...$225 dosen't look too bad if they would really help out my stopping distances....

I would have to throw on some new rotors, drums, wheel cylinders, and calipers though...proably a good idea before i try to make it go faster, lol.

http://www.praisedynobrake.com/stage-i.htm

Also, how long do they last compared to regular pads/shoes?

Lets put it this way. As long as I have had them on my burb, I have NEVER experienced brake fade. That includes braking down mountains towing 5500 lbs.

Yes the pads are suppose to be good. AS for how long they last? Im not sure, but I have heard people with newer 2500 series burbs using the number 80K miles

How about the wear on the drum itself? Does kevlar wear the drum more quickly?

I did not notice any unusual wear, but with drums being only $24, I replace them each time.

I get them at a local dicount store, but you can get them at Auto Zone for $26

They are made in Canada and I have had no problems with them.
