Brakes Went The Floor... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Stopped at the pay window at Micky-D's and all of the sudden the pedal went to the floor and now all I have is rear brakes. Pedal's soft nearly all the way to the floor. Is it the Master Cylinder or Power Brake Booster? I've already purchased a new booster but when I removed the MC, there was brake fluid puddled between the MC and the booster. 72 C-10 with power disc brakes. New lines, cylinders, shoes & hardware. I havent noticed any leaks until I removes the MC. The brakes would fade sitting at a light or steady application...Just want some other opinions...Thanks in advance

Bad master cylinder

Sounds like the m/c, the fluid is a dead give away, but take a very close look at the front calipers, lines and PV as well.

Had a brake line do that on my 71 chevelle once. Couldnt find the leak initially because it was running down the frame rail.

Right on, Thanks for the replys. I'm picking up a new MC tomorrow. I had the truck in the shop earlier today messing with MC and decided to wait until tomorrow before I render it imobile for a couple of hours so I parked it in the yard and went on to do some mowing and catch a game. I get home this evening and I smell a very strong odor of gasoline! After a quick look see I realize the fuel pump is leaking! I know it wasnt leaking when it was in the shop this afternoon, I only drove it 100 feet and parked it! Guess it felt neglected!
