GMC guys with DANA 44s

hey guys i just got my dana 44 rear axle back from the speed shop from being rebuilt with new bearings & pinion seal along with a 5 on 5 lug conversion. the rub in all this is finding a pair of 5on 5 drums for a dana 44. has any one have any experance with this ? i have been checking past posts but cant find anyone who has kept the drums. they seem to have went with disks which i would like to avoid. any help would greatly be appreciated thanks.

Only thing i can think of is some of the older jeeps used a dana 44 with drums but the lug pattern is a different 5 lug i think.

My '07 Rubicon has a D-44 and is 5x5 wheel pattern. I think it is disc front and rear though.

I think some of the Scouts used the Dana too.

Re: GMC guys with DANA 44s

5x5 was only used by GM for trucks, and, certain cars. Check the mid 70s caddy's I think, and the late 80s/early 90s full size cars, Caprice, Impale, etc. I needed a set of rotors off one was told to watch for the big bolt pattern...cop cars had them too....

Re: GMC guys with DANA 44s

found a set of drums at orilleys this week ! 11" x 2" s for the rear of the 66 GMCs Dana 44 . the part # was 2065 DGS with a second cross refrance # of 81-60294. this drum just fits. we installed the rear end last week with no drums or brakes becouse we were having trouble finding drums but got it together this weekend . heres some pictures good luck to the dana 44 guys who run across this in the future.

I'm happy you found a set,I'm like you i rather have rear drums they last a long time and rear disc are over kill unless you have something fast that needs them.
