Question Broken Sport Mirror Fix ?????

I have sport mirrors on the 72 4x4. The passenger side mirror rotates on the back post. Otherwise in very good condition (little pitting on the base) no breaks in the glass. I am wondering if there is a 'fix' to hold the metal frame of the glass on the ball of the base. It's the passenger side so i figure if I get it close to wherei it should be, and it stays there, I'll be good.

Has anybody used some kind of adhesive or glue to hold these broken pieces stationary? What would work here guys?

Thanks for the input.
