Timing Light

Always timed engines by ear, but i picked up a light the other day so as to fine tune my 80s 350 in my 1960 truck. Got everything ready, disconnected the vacumn advance, loosened the distributor and placed the connector with the light on number 1 per the instructions. I set the timing mark as shown in this illustration. I want it advanced somewhat so it will run strong of course. Is the picture the correct setting? If not, i need some guidance. Please feel free to give me your suggestions as i have no experience using a light.

Re: Timing Light

That is too slow. The deep resession is TDC. Each hump is 4 degrees. It should be on the center hump or the last resession.
