I am down to the bare frame on my 68 c-10. I have the crossmember off and on the floor. Along with all the control arms off and the control shafts out.

I am looking for all the torque specs for all the front end. For sure the control arm shafts upper and lowers .

I'm going to paint the frame tomorrow so I have some time before I start putting it back together.

Would love to find torque specs for all components myself. Maybe there is a list somewhere? I'm putting the Custom 30 wrecker back together and things like the brake backing plates, leaf spring bolts, etc. It would be great to know how much torque to apply.

factory service manual has many pages filled with loads of important info like that

available cheap in high quality repinted form from most of the vendors on here

Although an assembly manual can be the be-all-end-all of torque specs, the particular bolt is the application in question. If you know the bolt size you can look up the torque spec of that particular bolt.

Haynes doesn't have any torque specs for the control shafts, at least from what i could find in my book.

I've looked in a couple web sites with no luck....so ttt for ya.....maybe someone has the info.....I can say that we just did these on our 71 Super project, and since they were steel bushings, we tightened them up using a cheater bar and alot of muscle

I was looking at my manual and I see the same typo in mine. Look at the specs for the control arm bushings, it lists only the lower. Also, what does "New" and "Replace" mean in regard to the specs. If you are replacing the bushings with new parts then????

Can anyone clarify?

I'm well into a full resto on my '69 big block C10 fleetside shorty and at the upper and lower control arm installation. As I understand the new upper control arm bushes torque spec is 160 ft lbs and the new lower bushes are 280 ft lbs. Can someone let me know the procedure for torquing them up, do I tighten them up while the truck is on the ground at static ride height or can they be tightened up on the stands, do I run the bushes in evenly from both sides or can they be tightened individually without damage?, tried looking for info on the install procedure but to no avail. If my torque specs are wrong can someone correct me. I have a manual ordered but it could be a few weeks before it gets to me in Australia.
