Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

Why did they dedicate the system to vans??? Did it ever get put in trucks? Interesting to say the least.

I'm surprised they just didn't set it up like an old front wheel drive Eldorado and have a through shaft to the rear axle.

Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

I wouldn't say it was a bad setup just to much to maintain three separate diffs (front left/right, rear)

My guess is that this was used in vans to keep the van near a stock height. 4wd vans that use a solid front axle sit pretty tall.

I'm just enough of a 'Gizmo Junky' to like that setup! I'll bet it would pull you through just about anything with the right tires and a posi or locker rear.
Hope I don't see one of those vans around these parts .... I may have to buy it and restore it, (with a different body on top)!!

I have to agree with you on that, if i found one i'd try and buy it too and put it under a truck body.

X3

Except I would put the coolest van body to ever exist on it. I don't know if it would look right being 4x4 instead of 2wd...but that wouldn't stop me from trying it!

Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

I just realized they did a real good job of working with the factory front ends on these vans. This is a Chevy setup. Looks like they just removed the lower control arms and the diff fit into place real nicely.

And this one of the other hand is the ford version that utilizes the twin I Beam setup. Very minimal fabrication it looks like. Possibly bolt in!?!?! Not bad from an engineering and manufacturing standpoint if you ask me.

Haha I was watching the A Team earlier today great show. They would have way to much fun with the van as a 4x4 well at least I would anyways.

Me too, but it's because I have had it set as my cell phone ring tone for about the last 6 months...before that was the Sanford and Son intro.

Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

Hello, Iam new at this forum so I will introduce myself first:
Iam Marc Schenk from the Netherlands EU and I own a chevyvan G30 1978 with a V-4wd drive.

I have seen many forums and stories about V4wd drive systems, and in this forum I find the best agreement about that kind 4wd.
At first I am looking for te company who made this conversion, standard the Van has a 2wd. Is it Vemco or Dana?
Also would I like the maintanance of this system an maybe the most important: Where Can I get spare parts?!.

If anyone can help me with this great system Iam verry thankfull, greatings Marc

Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

I think Vemco was the company that sold the kit, it was made from DANA parts. Good luck getting spare parts. I would think most major components would interchange, as DANA made parts for many manufacturers. The specialized components are obsolete I`m sure.

I would wager that they have been out of business for about 20 years.

All the parts are probably available as they wouldn't have used as many off the shelf parts as possible.

Re: any u guys seen somthen lk this

I have seen a van that was used by a SEAL team in Virginia that was this style if that helps. There was a guy trying to sell it on Ebay or Craigslist I believe and it was the CARC green. Even had some bullet holes in the floor, most likely from a training accidental discharge. It looked pretty mean.
