I've got a zz4 and love it. The zz3 is a smaller size cam and heads but still a great engine. How many miles on it? If you can do it I would have it cleaned up and install a new cam to liven it up a bit.

Miles, don't know much about it. From the looks of the carbon in the exhaust port it looks like very few miles.
What cam or grind should I use and do the roller lifters need to be changed like on a flat tappet when you install a new or different cam ??

Rollers don't have to be changed if they look good. Look at GM's fast burn cam. This cam is sweet!! I want this cam for mine. It has a real lopey sound and you can get them at most dealerships.

What I am hearing you say is that you would change the ZZ 4 cam and go with the Fast burn grind.
This 55 is going to have Air Conditioning and be driven on the streets in very HOT weather. Is the fast burn cam capable of those requirements!!!

Maybe not that much. I would stick with a mild roller cam then like one from Comp or Crane. Try contacting their tech departments and see what they say. You probably need one that will deliver torque down low to drive your 55 with that heavy metal.
