We have a board vendor here that builds very nice aluminum tanks. I believe he will also build custom tanks.

Any other suggestions on the best place to buy one of these? my dad is looking for one for the '66 short/fleet he recently bought...trying to figure out what fits best with the least trouble installing & reasonable cost

there was a guy here that posted up some info about using a brand new ford falcon gas tank that he picked up for like $40, it almost fit right on, just needed to remount the filler to where you want it

Look up my older posts. I built mine however I had some huge help,, RIght down to the layout with specs... POL does sell them. I also understand that a vendor here makes them as well.. I can tell you that this tank was a TRUE bolt in and everything worked, fitted correct once I followed the specs when I built my tank. One thing I did find that made the install easy was to drop the bolts in from the top side of the frame rail line it up and then I welded the bolts to the frame..
