2 Questions;heater hoses/trim
Hey Guys I have a few questions for you.
First one is about the heater hoses, I know the way they are supposed to be, but when I took mine apart they were swapped. Now I did a search and came up empty, but in my mind the heater core just acts as a pass through and it shouldn't matter which they are hooked up, but I could be wrong, so thats where you come in! Thanks fellas. Secondly, where is the best place to buy trim at? I need to order like 3-4 pieces after the wreck(build thread) and was some quality pieces. I think we ordered the whole kit from goodmark back when we did the resto. So any help would be great. Thanks guys!! Kevin

Re: 2 Questions;heater hoses/trim
Yes it matters. The 5/8" fitting on the Intake manifold (hottest water), is always the pressure or flow line. It goes from there up into the bottom of the heater core, (lets remember heat rises) and returns out of the 3/4" fitting (return lines are always bigger than pressure) at the top of the heater core to either the intake side of the water pump or to the 3/4 fitting on the radiator. If you hook it up wrong it will work, but you will complain later that the heater doesn't get very warm or that you have air in the the system that you can't get rid of.
This needs to be in the FAQ section, it gets asked a lot. Jeff

Re: 2 Questions;heater hoses/trim
Chipflyer hit it right on the money. As for your second question, you can go to LCMTRUCK.COM and find all the trim on there. Find it under molding.
Nice to see I found a few more few Kansas folks on here today.

Re: 2 Questions;heater hoses/trim
We had a thread like this not too long ago. The other posts are correct. The idea is to push the fluid up from the bottom that way any air in the system is purged as coolant starts flowing out the top. Also I agree we need a FAQ sticky on this topic.
For trim you would probably do pretty good on the classified boards. Can't recommend a specific repro trim but I have been considering Mar-K for a project stuck in perpetual planning.

Re: 2 Questions;heater hoses/trim
I've actually answered that 5 or 6 times in the last 8 years. To be honest I am getting lazy, I found one of my previous answers and just did a cut and past into this thread and added the pic. Its a pet peeve of mine to see heater hoses hooked up wrong.
Cheers fellow Kansans
