200R4 kickdown cable attach?

How does the kickdown cable attach to the 200R4? Do you have to take the transmission apart to put in another brand?

It's attached at the base by one bolt. You pull it up and unhook it from a wire inside. Slip on the new one and put the bolt back in. The carb or TBI or whatever end it is attached by a plastic clip piece you have to squeeze to release it from the bracket and a small metal retainer that holds it to the throttle shaft. Adjustment of the TV cable is important or it will burn up.

Re: 200R4 kickdown cable attach?

thanks okgmc4. I have a 454ci, elderborck carb, connected to the 200r4 and the tv cable is intact. I was thinking about another brand of cable, however now that you have explained it, I will stick with this system and do my best on adjustment.

No insult intended but it would seem that your not too knowledgeable about your tranmi$$ion. Before you even drive it or possible ruin your transmi$$ion, read this:

Are you sure you have a 200R4 and not a 700R4?

The transmission does not have a bolt on tail. I just replaced the rear seal with a 200r4 seal. Am I 100% positive?, NO
