Rear Dropmember Question...

Can someone tell me the overall height of the notch relative to the frame rail, and the distance between the frame rail and the underside of the notch? See red arrows below. Thanks!

I just went out to the garage and measured mine. From the top of the notch to the back side measures 10 1/2 inches. Laying frame with a 24 inch rim with a 295-35- 24 hope that helps. What happened to your truck kid?

Thanks Tony. What about the front side of the notch? Any idea on height from where the frame used to be and the bottom of the notch? Trying to get an idea how much I'll have to raise the bed floor. I may go with a shorter notch since I don't plan on running big wheels.

Spun a bearing in my straight six. Time for a V8 and auto trans swap. Decided to redo my frame. Going with a Porterbuilt setup.

Kid I measured the front of the top of the notch to the top of the frame like you have pictured and it measures 8 1/4 inches. My frame in the center of the notch is already removed so I can't he an accurate measurement there. But with my frame laying on the ground it measures 17 1/2 inches from the ground to the bottom side of the notch. So are you scrapping your old frame? I have a short bed frame but it need to be dismantled before I can sell it.

Yep, I'm ditching the current frame, unless I can find someone who wants to buy it. Have a totally rebuilt '82 front crossmember too.

Tony, two last questions and I swear I'll stop bugging you. What size wheels/tires are you running and how much clearance do you have between the top of your rear axle and the bottom of the notch when you're fully laid out?

Kid I have 24 inch rims in the back 295-35-24 it measures almost 32 inches tall and I have zero room in my notch the rearend is bottomed out in the notch and my frame just touches the ground. Hope that helps no worries on the questions glad I can be the guy that could help! It's taken me a long time to get to the point I'm at. I've spent a lot of money along the way on stuff I ended up buying again only better, should have got the good stuff the first time! Glad to help.
