milky oil.....AGAIN!!
ok everyone, i took the intake and heads off my 350. there was some water in my number 7 cylinder but no where else. intake gaskets looks old and crusty, as did the head gaskets. no signs of leaking on the intake. a few of the water jacket openings on the heads and head gaskets were blocked or very close to being blocked with corrosion. so, after hours and hours of cleaning and blowing compressed air and cleaning again and again, all mating surfaces looked great. checked with a straight edge and no warping anywhere. bought new gaskets, installed, put sealant on the head bolts, torqued down, put on an aluminum gm intake to replace the beat up cast iron one and torqued down. got everything back on, changed filter, added new oil, added new coolant and she fired right up and sounds great. checked oil, little milky still, figure its left over from before. add new filter and oil. drive to gas station and around for about 40 minutes straight. truck is running great. good power. oil pressure is over the half way line on the stock gauge. get home, and there is milky oil leaking on the front cross member dripping down from what looks like the front oil pan gasket. i checked the oil before i left and it was clear. check when i got home and it was about a quarter inch higher than when i left and its milky again. there is no smoke coming from the exhaust, it runs good. not sure what to do or where to check now im about ready to give up on this engine!!

Re: milky oil.....AGAIN!!
im pretty sure its most likely this..when i had the heads off, they were extremely corroded, as were the water jacket ports on the surface of the block. so much so, i had to break the rust and corrosion away with a chisel and screwdriver. the little amount that i could see into the ports, it was just rust colored and looked horrible. im assuming that somewhere along the path of the waterjackets, that there is a crack. there is also milky oil under the valve covers. basically going to just give it some fresh oil and keep it together so im able to move it in and out of the garage and driveway and start working on the suspension to slam it

Re: milky oil.....AGAIN!!
Sounds like you have a crack or a warped surface. At this point a complete tear down and a trip to a machine shop is in order. Block and heads, Magnafux and if OK a little milling to get it squared up. Else, time for a different engine.

Re: milky oil.....AGAIN!!
I agree, sounds like there is a crack in the block or head. Take it to a machine shop and have them work there magic on it see what the problem is and if they can fix it.

Re: milky oil.....AGAIN!!
x3 on a crack situation. Check for warpage too, obviously. With that much corrosion it's likely somebody ran the thing with straight water, or let the anti-freeze go much too long. At the very least replace all the freeze plugs in the block as they will be corroded too. You'll thank yourself later!
