New guy just wanting to say hello...
Hey everyone..
Just joined the forum a couple of days ago, been looking around a lot. There is some great information on here. Figured I'd say hey, share my story, plans, etc.. I've got a 1965 Chevy swb stepper with a nicely built 350, th350, and 4:11 gears.. I've had it for about 15 years now, got it when I was 15. When I was 14 my dad gave me an option of buy the 65 from him or he'd give me a 69 LWB fleet that needed some work. Loving a challenge, I took the 69. By the time I was 15, I had it running really good. The 65's water pump went out and my dad asked to borrow my truck. Said sure, why not. He gets home that day, walks in and says "Come outside for a min, I need your help" "with what" "Pushing your bumper back straight". He side swiped a guy and crushed the drivers side. Needless to say, he gave me the 65 as a consolation prize. I have loved my truck ever since. Drove it all through high school up to the point I was about 22, figured I'd strip it down. Had some other things come up more important, low funds meant the truck sat, bed off, front clip off, for about 5 years. Well about 2 years ago, my F150 decided to start through spark plugs out the head, needed the 65 as a spare, so one weekend I sat out to put her back together... Here's a couple of videos after I got it running again. Haven't really done much too it since then except replace the break lines after my wonderful wife decided to push the pedal through the floor the first time she went to drive it, she's never drove anything old. Got bit by the bug to start working on it again after helping a friend strip down his 54 chevy truck. So I started stripping panels down to metal and priming them, getting them ready for when I do take it down to frame. Doing it a panel a time right now so I can still drive the truck. This is going to be a slow build because we just found out recently that my wife is pregos with our first child, so any spare money is going to preparing for the little one that will one day, help me work on the truck.. |
