Changing a C30 to a K30, how difficult?
What all would be involved to make a C30 into a K30. I have a K30 C&C without a title and was wondering if I could take all the front end stuff and put it on a C30. Is this more trouble than it would be worth. I have an inquiry in about a C30 and was just looking for some information.

Re: Changing a C30 to a K30, how difficult?
The C&C frame has something like ten foot behind the cab and I want to just have a regular eight foot dually bed. I don't want to have to cut and splice the C&C frame because I would have to shorten it to bring the rearend closer to the cab and then lenghthen it because there is no frame behind the rear spring bracket.

Re: Changing a C30 to a K30, how difficult?
It's pretty involved and somewhat challenging to do. The C30 frame does not have all the mounts already there to put the SFA assembly up front... you need to drill and gind off the brackets and mounts, then more importantly, measure and get them rewelded into the right spots before you can even start swapping things over. If you dont get them welded into the right spots things wont run true afterwards... It can be done, but why? Better off trying to horse trade and get a k30 frame you can exchange for the C&C straight up with someone who wants a flatbed truck and would like the extra length...

Re: Changing a C30 to a K30, how difficult?
From what I have read and understood, you need to remove the front radiator support bracket from both trucks and swap them...the 4wd also has the front spring hanger built in...BOLT them back in. you will have to do some measuring for the rear(front spring) shackle location,drill/cut the hole and mount the bracket. Then you need to address the front crossmember. If your truck has the "HIGH" hump in the floor, you shouldn't need to mess with that. You will also need the front/rear drive shaft, transfer case/transmission crossmember. Since the donor is extra long, you'll need to shorten the rear driveshaft. I think you also have to change the rear spring hangers too.
If you have the time, then it wont be that bad.
